How to cope with long days
Whatever the reason for your long workday, it can be challenging to remain productive, positive and focused throughout many hours. There are ways to avoid burnout from long days, however, and they can also help you enjoy your work more and feel more positive when you’re done for the day.
Here are some ways to cope with long days at work:
1. Start with positivity
Positivity means different things to different people, so you may need to figure out what it means for you. Perhaps it’s starting your day with a stop at your favorite coffee shop or a relaxing yoga class. Even just a few quiet minutes at home can help you prepare for a long day.
2. Eat well
Eating well can give you the stamina you’ll need for a long workday. Fatigue can affect your ability to focus and make a long day seem even longer. If you know you’re going to have a long day or multiple long days at work, you can prepare a plan for what you can eat on those days.
Additionally, if you are concerned about having time to have good meals when you’re working long hours, planning ahead can help you find a solution. This might mean having prepared meals in your refrigerator for when you get home from work or buying quick but nutritious meals to take with you to work.
