The early rumors that Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra pricing is very different to previous years have now been boosted by Samsung itself.
From pre-order deals, trade-in prices and freebies, it looks like Samsung’s 2026 smartphone pricing has been shaken up because of the global memory chip shortage that’s raising costs for smartphone makers.Maybe Samsung has also dropped the prices of its cases, too. Although if they’ve been upgraded to support magnetic charging, that seems unlikely. Instead, this is a clear sign that Samsung is responding to the global memory chip shortage, which has raised costs and forced all hardware manufacturers into increasing prices, or making cutbacks elsewhere, in order to keep profits healthy. That Galaxy S25 deal was a combination of $900 in trade-in prices and a free storage upgrade, which meant buying the 512GB model for the price of the 256GB unit, for example.
Previous leaks had suggested that Samsung would drop this free storage offer for the Galaxy S26 Ultra because of the skyrocketing price of flash memory, and this looks like a strong hint that the double storage deal is done.
