Uber Taps Balaji Krishnamurthy as New CFO to Steer Financial Strategy Amid Rapid Push Into Autonomous Vehicle Growth and Robotaxi Expansion
Uber officially announced the appointment of Balaji Krishnamurthy to the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He will assume the role of chief financial officer, succeeding the current head Prashanth Mahendra-Rajah. Krishnamurthy has been serving as Vice President of Strategic Finance and Investor Relations, and his appointment marks a key step in the company’s ambitions to develop autonomous technologies.
According to the company, Krishnamurthy has worked at Uber for more than six years, much of which has been devoted to investor relations. He also sits on the board of Waabi, signaling possible plans for Uber to broaden its investment and operational efforts in autonomous driving.
During a fourth-quarter earnings call, Krishnamurthy said the company intends to deploy capital to AV software partners, deepen collaboration with AV manufacturers through investments or buyout agreements, and “support our AV infrastructure partners”.

Uber’s Outlook for AV and Financial Plans
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, during the post-earnings discussion, voiced confidence that autonomous vehicles will unlock a multi-trillion-dollar opportunity for the company, and that autonomy will significantly bolster the platform’s competitive advantages.

Growth in free cash flow supported an optimistic view of future financial results: Uber’s revenue for the fourth quarter was about $14.37 billion, up 20% year over year thanks to strong demand for food delivery and other services.
